内容説明
This collection brings together a range of international historians and educationalists interested in the future of history education. The book is designed to provide a critical review of the current scope and nature of history in higher education and, in the light of new teaching methods, research and current issues in teaching, to offer practical information and assistance to all those involved in the development and enhancement of the subject. By focusing on the changes in teaching and learning strategies, the authors address the central problems facing all higher education programmes. Topics include: the impact of information technology; the challenges of expanding student numbers, as well as the changes in course structure; and the pressures of new institutional directives concerning quality assurance, enterprise and staff appraisal. The book does not prescribe a particular strategy for the development of history; it adopts, rather, a broad, pluralistic approach, offering a much-needed focus for debates, through informed discussion and practical advice.
