Description and Table of Contents
Description
These are the papers of a cycle of conferences organized by Alan Dashwood, of the Centre of European Legal Studies, (Cambridge), the object of which was to offer a platform for discussion before the 1996 InterGovernmental conference. The conferences focused on key aspects of the Maastricht Treaty and the legal order that ensued, highlighting some of the problems and suggesting solutions. Of the five conferences, the first four addressed the issues of subsidiary and distribution of powers, democracy and citizens' Europe, enlargement and external relations, and the Common Foreign and Security Policy. The last, fifth conference pulled together the conclusions of the previous events and culminated in a series of suggestions and proposals for the InterGovernmental conference.
