内容説明

This fourth edition narrows the gap between those who manufacture and those who routinely prepare, dispense and administer parenteral drugs, by giving each group an appreciation of what the other must accoimplish to achieve the best in patient care. It covers all aspects of parenterals, including preparation, equipment and packaging. Intravenous Immune Globulins (IVIG) has broad biologic immune activity and is used for many diseases, including HIV infection. This work contains information on IVIG in the blood and blood products. There is also information about new developments in containers - they are now more environmentally friendly and have greater ease of disposability. The inclusion of a section on patient controlled analgesia (PCA) acknowledges that this type of administration is being used. There are also four new appendices. Appendices one and two detail understanding fluid dynamics when choosing an IV system and implantable and external central catheters. Appendices five and six cover parenterals derived from biotechnology and buyer's guides for pumps, controllers and IV devices.
