Description
This is a collection of the papers presented at the 8th Texas International Conference on Approximation Theory. The proceedings of the previous seven conferences were published by Academic Press. The present one is interdisciplinary in nature. Over 35% of the papers are on "wavelets". The plenary speakers include Ingrid Daubechies, Charles Micchelli, Wolfgang Dahmen, Ward Cheney, R.Q. Jia, Robert Schaback, and Doron Lubinsky. The first Popov prize was given to Albert Cohen, who also delivered an invited address. This conference was dedicated to Ward Cheney in honor of his 65th Birthday.

Description
This is the collection of the refereed and edited papers presented at the 8th Texas International Conference on Approximation Theory. It is interdisciplinary in nature and consists of two volumes. The central theme of Vol. I is the core of approximation theory. It includes such important areas as qualitative approximations, interpolation theory, rational approximations, radial-basis functions, and splines. The second volume focuses on topics related to wavelet analysis, including multiresolution and multi-level approximation, subdivision schemes in CAGD, and applications.
