Description
This book reports on the reconaissance and survey of the prehistoric settlement site at the modern fishing town of Puerto Lopez, Canton Jipijapa, in the southern Manabi province of Ecuador. The earliest recorded occuaption of the prehistooric site of Lopez Viejo pertains to the Early Formative period Valdivia culture (c. 3500 BC-1500 BC). Subsequent settlement pertains to the Engoroy Culture, the Bahia and Guangala Cultures (c 300 BC-AD 800) and the Manteno Culture (AD 800- AD 1532). Subsequent chapters discuss the archaeological excavations with a preliminary summary of occupation, and analysis of the finds.
