Description and Table of Contents

Description

This volume provides an overview of the principles of photobiology and immunology as they relate to the skin, and then summarizes the effects of ultraviolet (UV) radiation on immunological processes. New information on the mechanisms by which UV radiation can interact with immune cells and modify immune function is also presented. The role of photoimmunology in the pathogenesis of skin cancer and photodermatoses, and its potential for involvement in infectious disease processes is reviewed. Finally, current and potential applications of UV radiation as a means of achieving specific immunosuppression and its use in the therapy of cutaneous disease are discussed.

Table of Contents

  • photoimmunology and the pathogenesis of disease
  • clinical photoimmunology
