This is a guide to the examination and assessment of the lower limb to facilitate accurate diagnosis and the planning of appropriate treatment. It should help the student develop an accurate picture of the state of lower limb viability and limb function; to arrive at a precise and accurate diagnosis; and to identify additional factors which may influence treatment. A section on different patient groups helps the student relate the principles they have learned to actual clinical situations.
