内容説明

Experimental and clinical evidence presented in this text illustrates that antibodies expressing different specificities can be very effective in preventing or reversing established transplant rejection. Moreover, the data indicates the future use of therapeutic agents, which may allow the induction of specific tolerance to transplant alloantigens. This is the only means to avoid the major risks of sustained immunosuppression, namely an increased susceptibility to infection and tumour development. Contributions to this text are combined to incorporate practical aspects of the clincial use of monoclonal antibodies with a more general discussion on the developments that may occur in the future.
