内容説明

This study presents detailed historical, scientific, and social information on all drugs currently used illegally in the UK, North America, and other countries of the world. It goes on to discuss the reasons why people decide to use these drugs, the natural history of drug use, the nature of addiction, and the treatments which are available for those with drug-related problems. Finally, there is a critical evaluation of current UK policy on drugs with some proposals for limiting the damage caused to individuals and society, and for reducing problem drug use in the future. This book was written in the knowledge that the interest in drugs and their effects extends far beyond the ranks of those who actually use them. With these general readers in mind, the author has presented the facts in a balanced and accessible way, avoiding all jargon and assuming no prior knowledge.
