Description and Table of Contents

Description

A summary catalogue of the cuneiform tablets held in the Ashmolean on behalf of the Bodleian was published in 1927, but it ommitted many of the literary and historical texts and all of the economic and administrative texts. This is a complete catalogue, which compensates for these earlier omissions. It contains copies of all 112 texts, with exact transcriptions and translations of 22 of the most interesting. These include contracts for leasing a house, employment, the purchase of goods, marriage and the division of legacy.
