内容説明

It is increasingly apparent that socio-economc and demographic trends have been, and will continue to be, critical in shaping the nature of inner city problems and the issues which confront urban policy. Recognising the importance of these issues, this report looks at the implications for inner city areas over the next twenty to twenty-five years. The aims and objectives of the study are: to identify socio-demographic trends likely to affect inner city areas over the next 20 to 25 years, including how these changes are likely to vary between different inner city areas and between inner city and other areas; to highlight the implications of these trends for key policy areas with particular emphasis on housing and employment; to highlight the policy implications of these changes for the Government's inner city policies by identifying the key trends and issues which policy will need to address; to make recommendations as to the types of analyses the Department of Environment should undertake using 1991 Census of Population data to elaborate on the findings of this project.
