Description

This volume is one of a series of four which contains a full calendar of all the material relating to Kent from 1625 to 1688 which survives among the assize indictment files for the Home Circuit. This calendar includes not only the indictments and other records on those files that are devoted solely to the Kent assizes but also everything concerning Kent which is preserved on the "general" files of the circuit. The Kent indictments have survived in larger numbers from the 17th century than have those of any other county and they therefore provide a particularly full picture of the administration of criminal justice.
