内容説明
The first part of this research project investigated the problems experienced by 83 children who returned to school after spending time in hospital with cancer, various chronic diseases and orthopaedic conditions. Children in all three groups experienced problems and many teachers were unsure of the academic expectations and physical capabilities of returning children. The second part investigated the resources and services provided by the treating hospitals, the school health services, and the Education Department, in reintegrating children to school. There seemed to be no regular pattern of details for services offered to the children and their families and many school doctors felt that they were an under-used resource. These results suggest that to facilitate a smooth return to school for a child after a period of hospital treatment, improved liason is needed between all the parties concerned, including the school health services.
