内容説明

The relationship of culture to biology and society is one of the current frontiers of thought. This volume chooses religion, mainly organized religion, as the aspect of culture for a very broad investigation. It considers religion's psychological and social functions, as well as how flexible or rigid religious institutions are in fluctuating biological and social environments. A fresh evolutionary model which incorporates cultural and religious values is presented, together with a complementary economic interpretation of religion.
