Description
The base of the skull is the anatomic border between neurosurgery and ENT respective to oral surgery. From this interdisciplinary area the so-called surgery of the cranial base has developed in the last 15 years. It is now a domain of its own which plays an important role as a surgical specialty. This atlas shows the functional anatomy of the cranial base and its adjacent structures according to the operative access of the surgeon. This subtle observation of the upper and lower side of the base of the skull, including cranial nerves and vessels, represents a a clinical-anatomic introduction for all medical specialists who are concerned with the cranial base and its adjacent structures - neurosurgeons, oral surgeons, ENT specialists, neurologists and radiologists.
