This text offers a comprehensive review of policies of 'privatization' ranging from the denationalization of public utilities, the contracting-out of services to the private sector and market testing in the public sector. It does so by examining the political, ethical, sociological and economic implications of sometimes controversial policies in contrasting areas of the public sector in the UK and abroad.
