Description

Application programming interfaces (APIs) allow developers and programmers to create and customize applications. OS/2 has three major APIs: control program API; presentation manager API; and the Workplace Shell API/SOM. The Workplace Shell is part of the presentation manager graphical user interface. SOM (System Object Model) is part of the Workplace Shell and is a key component in object modelling and object libraries. This handbook places the Workplace Shell APIs into logical groups, with brief descriptions of each concept. It includes an alphabetical desk reference to OS/2 Workplace Shell and SOM APIs, designed to give developers quick access to the information they need. It also discusses undocumented features that are currently available only by word of mouth.
