内容説明
This study argues that lyric poems, rather than ending like the conclusion of a story or argument, actually return their own structures and statements back to the beginnings and middles of the poems. Examples of lyric poetry are studied from five Western languages, from antiquity through the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, to the present. The text combines advanced methods in literary interpretation with a focus on lyric poetry's recurrent motifs, devices and figurative language.
