Description
Since the 1970s visiting large cities for short breaks has become a popular form of tourism. It affects capital cities, historic cities and even industrial cities. Visitors are interested in heritage, culture and events. While for some cities tourism is a threat to their environment and the lifestyle of their inhabitants, other cities have enthusiastically embraced the idea of promoting the industry. For these cities tourism is a growth activity which can create wealth and jobs to replace those lost by deindustrialization.
