Description

This CD-ROM version of the "Academic Press Dictionary of Science and Technology" enables quick searching of more than 13,000 entries. It covers 124 fields, from acoustics to zoology, with each field introduced with a brief essay by a scientist and labelled fields of application provided for each term. Hundreds of mathematical equations and chemical structures are presented, and appendices include: the periodic table; a chronology of modern science and technology; standard weights and measures; geological eras and classification of plants and animals. Other features include: existing terms updated and new terms added; 100 new 4-colour illustrations and hundreds of black-and-white illustrations; and applicable illustrations linked to relative terms. Expanded captions define illustrations to save time, and usage notes provide correct scientific writing and can be consulted independently or accessed from key terms. Searches can be limited to specific subject areas. and "Harbrace College Handbook".
