Ted Wragg's writes a column in the "Times Educational Supplement". This book brings together some of his best-loved columns over the past 15 years giving a historical overview of some of the worst excesses of Conservative education policy as well as tackling the day-to-day frustrations of life in the classroom. The first part of the book features the columns dealing with some of the political issues which have affected teachers, from Sir Keith Joseph to Gillian Shephard, such as the Local Management of Schools, OFSTED and performance-related pay. The articles in the second part chronicles life in the classroom and the day-to-day running of schools including the National Curriculum, coping with HMI visits, dealing with parents, speech day, opting out, and sex education.
