内容説明

This volume of review chapters, from an international group of authors with the ability to communicate across disciplinary boundaries, reflects contemporary practice of holistic care in several areas of clinical activity. Present-day usage of the term "psychosomatic" denotes both holistic and psychophysiological aspects of health care. The similarity between psychosomatics and the broad viewpoint of "behavioural medicine" is obvious, as is its relevance for health psychology and other examples of 'patient-oriented' and 'biopsychosocial' medicine. Several chapters reflect close collaboration between psychology and medicine, including obstetrics, primary care, eating disorders and cardiovascular dysfunction. There is now a growing concern with approaches to whole-person care: the present volume offers an overview of several significant developments, presented in a way which facilitates communication and understanding at the interface of psychology and medicine.
