内容説明

In recent years, the concept of post-traumatic stress disorder has captured the attention and concern of clinicians and scientists, and PTSD has been extensively studied. However, most of the research and clinical experience validating the diagnosis have been carried out in Western industrialised nations. It is still unclear to what extent individuals from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds vary in their response to trauma. This comprehensive volume is a systematic examination of ethnocultural aspects of PTSD. Leaders in the field of PTSD research and practice explore both universal and culture-specific reactions to trauma, and discuss implications for research, treatment and prevention. Among the topics covered are: epidemiology, conceptual and methodological issues in research, manifestations of PTSD in specific ethnocultural and victim populations, and approaches to assessment and treatment. The multidisciplinary perspective of this book should appeal to a broad audience of psychologists, psychiatrists, anthropologists, epidemiologists, sociologists and social workers.
