Description
Evaluation of the occupational environment is a major aspect of occupational health/industrial hygiene practice. Numerous methods are used to evaluate the occupational environment for physical, chemical, and biological agents, and ergonomic factors that pose potential risks to the health of workers. This comprehensive textbook introduces several related basic industrial hygiene methods for evaluating occupational hygiene.
The text is divided into short units that provide a concise overview and summary of basic concepts, followed by a technical exercise. The step-by-step exercises can be conducted in an occupational setting where the applicable agents are detectable and measurable and/or other factors are observable. As an alternative, simulated evaluation exercises can be conducted in the classroom or laboratory. In either case, the student will gain an understanding of the basic concepts for collecting qualitative and quantitative data both directly and indirectly related to industrial hygiene practice.
