Description
This official illustrated guide looks at Charleston farmhouse in Sussex, the country retreat of the Bloomsbury circle. It was home to Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant - for over 50 years they covered walls, furniture and ceramics with their own decorations, forming a unique collection. Frequent visitors to the house include Virginia Woolf and Roger Fry. Angelica Garnett explains her part in the restoration of the property; Quentin Bell recollects the garden; and Henrietta Garnett's memoir of her grandmother gives an impression of life amony the Bloomsbury Group.
