The Technical and Vocational Education Initiative (TVEI) is the largest curriculum development project funded and administered by central government. It aimed to change the curriculum experienced by 14-18-year-olds by giving their education a more practical, applied and relevant focus. This account of the first seven years' work chronicles the many successes, identifies weaknesses and shows how, through regular review and appraisal, the project grew in strength and influence.
