After a decade of "looking north", it is time for an appraisal of both the visions of Asia and the strategies of engagement underlying Australia's recent dramatic shifts in consciousness and policy direction. Are our images of Asia correct? What are the costs and implications of engagement with Asia? Will Australia have to make fundamental social and strategic changes? In this study, the contributors address these questions and unravel the myths surrounding Asia and reassess Australia's place and future in the region.
