Description and Table of Contents
Description
This second edition updates and combines the author's previous titles, "How to Design Effective Text Based Open Learning" and "How to Design Effective Computer Based Open Learning". It provides a modular course on the instructional design needed for any learning materials, including: open learning; computer-based training; interactive video; and multi-media "outplacement". The author defines the difference between education and training. He helps the designer by providing a systematic approach to the design of effective learning materials, whatever media is used. Throughout the six modules, there are hints, tips and checklists provided for easy learning. The step-by-step "how-to" approach and open learning format aims to provide cost-effective ways of improving people's performance. No knowledge of instructional design is presumed. The book is totally practical and includes checklists to help project management, testing, and edition and evaluation. Each module has measurable objectives, tests and a final quiz. There is also a self-assessment quiz designed to guide the reader through the materials.
This text should be useful for: training managers in open learning, computer-based training and interactive video and multimedia; training managers who need to evaluate the potential value of OL/CBT to organizations; and project managers who are running training projects.
