Description

As post-Cold War Russia struggles to cope with political and economic revolution, the West must chart a foreign policy course in the former Soviet Union. This book examines Russia's assertive new foreign policy, and suggests how to avoid a crisis in the West's relations with Russia. The book presents a collaboration of scholars from Western nations, Asia, Russia and the Ukraine. It draws a sobering picture, but asserts that the discredit of communism and the desire for reform by millions in the new Russia are positive developments upon which the West must build. In the uncertain post-Cold War world, the West must establish a foreign policy that allows for both the ideological difference and emerging trend toward democracy in the East. This book analyzes the future of relations between Russia and the West.
