Description
This edition of the OFSTED Handbook provides Her Majesty's Chief Inspector's guidance on the inspection of secondary schools in England. Written in the light of evaluation and wide consultation, it sets out the fundamentals of good inspection practice and the standards by which the work and achievements of schools are to be judged. The handbook aims to promote better reports, through inspections which are more manageable by inspectors and less of a burden for schools. It incorporates the inspection framework, the code of practice for inspectors, guidance on how inspections should be conducted and on the application of the inspection schedule. Schools should continue to find that the handbook provides a useful and accessible basis for self-review. It is available in three versions, covering nursery and primary, secondary, and special schools.
