内容説明

This critical analysis of 150 different pharmaceuticals reveals the key prototype drugs from which all medicinal compounds in current use are derived. The volume charts the history and development of the various therapeutic drug classes, presenting the initial information by listing the drug prototypes in six major groups: plant products; mammalian products; minerals; serendipitous discoveries; and agents developed from screening programs. Within each group, more specific categories are defined in order to elucidate how prototypes have been successfully exploited in the past.
