Description

Over 10% of the 500,000 men who have served in UN peacekeeping forces have come from Sweden, and this high contribution to keeping the peace has produced unrivalled expertise in the field and a distinctive approach to theories of peacekeeping. This study examines the role of Swedish forces in the United Nations Emergency Force (UNEF) in the Middle East from 1956 to 1967. Day-to-day operational decision-making, logistics, rules of engagement and mediation between opposing forces are among the issues examined in detail.
