The new subtitle, "Wholistic Care of the older Adult", highlights a change in focus from care of the frail older adult to care of all older adults. "Gerontologic Nursing" focuses on presenting information about the care of the ill older adult with an eye towards identifying the unique needs of this diverse population and towards promotion health and preventing illness. Health promotion boxes and Healthy People 2000 Objectives have been integrated in the text to reinforce health promotion and disease prevention. New chapters have been added on 'The Transitions Years', which focus on the psychosocial aspects of aging.
