Author statement of the 1597 ed.: Philostrate Lemnien, sophiste grec

The "deux Philostrates" mentioned on t.p. of 1637 ed. may be identified with the Philostrati who are designated the Athenian and the Lemnian in Philostratus / Graham Anderson. 1986. Anderson treats the Athenian as probable author of the 1st series of Imagines and the Lemnian as probable author of a later series. In the present volume the former is designated "Philostrate lemnien" and the latter "le jeune Philostrate."
