Richard Charteris, who has published extensively on a variety of composers and has published an edition of Coprario's Fantasia Suites in the Musica Brittanica series did his dissertation, The Life and Instrumental Music of John Coprario with a Critical Edition of the Instrumental Music at the Universities of London and Canterbury. He is currently c He has uncovered the first known autographs of Coprario and those of several of his contemporaries. This volume contains the first thematic catalogue of an important 17th-century composer who was esteemed famous for instrumental Musick (compositions of Fancies) and was therefore made composer to King Charles I.
