This text is concerned with the structure, functional activities and regulation of the expression and adhesive properties of the leukocyte integrins. Their functional activities are described within the context of general leukocyte effector functions during immune and inflammatory responses. The book also summarizes current knowledge on the leukocyte integrins signal transduction ability, their identified ligands, and the clinical consequences of their absent expression in the Leukocyte Adhesion Deficieny Syndrome. Finally, the book addresses the potential therapeutic effectiveness thay leukocyte integrin-specific reagents might have in a variety of inflammatory and immunological diseases.
