内容説明
Until recently, women have been invisible in international relations; gender has not been considered a relevant category; and feminist scholarship has not been admitted into international relations. This work writes women, gender relations and feminist scholarship into "the international", and interrogates international aspects of women's lives and feminist politics. The book is organized into three parts. The first is on international political identities and the role of international processes in constructing political identities within states. The second part focuses on war and peace, exploring the popular associations of men with war, and women with peace. The third part focuses on international sexual division of labour including the growing feminization of the global assembly line, and the gendered politics of development, environment and population. It concludes with a review of women's organizations internationally, and of the possibilities and problems of transnational and national.
