Description

This skills workbook focuses on experiential learning activities that build and reinforce key nursing leadership and management skills. It uses a "hands on" approach which provides an opportunity to learn and practice crucial on-the-job skills before implementing them in the classroom. Activities focus on decision-making, prioritizing, negotiating, managing conflict, acting assertively and managing resources, as well as other key leading and managing skills. Case studies, scenarios, role plays and other application exercises are accompanied by forms, worksheets, skills checklists, inventories, assessment tools and discussion questions designed to stimulate critical thinking and analytical skills. Cross-references to the companion text "Leading and Managing in Nursing", by Yoder-Wise, are included to help students locate additional information about concepts on which activities are based.
