内容説明
In this volume, pediatricians, nutritionists, and gastroenterologists assess nutritional recommendations for six to twelve month old infants, address non-nutritional issues that must be considered in feeding these infants, and discuss the long-term effects of diet during infancy. The contributors define the older infants's energy, protein, iron, mineral, vitamin and electrolyte requirements, evaluate the adequacy of formulas, supplements and weaning foods, and indicate which dietary practices warrant further investigation. Attention is given to the older infant's capacity to digest, absorb and utilize foods, as well as to the weaning process, the prevention of dental caries, the immune response to dietary antigens the effect of diet on the intestinal flora, and the relationship of early diet to subsequent brain development, hypertension, atherosclerosis and obesity.
