Description and Table of Contents

Description

This text aims to provide highly practical guidance, for both specialist and non-specialist teachers, on the the range of local history resources available and how best to make effective use of them in the classroom. A wide range of different types of sources from all parts of the country are examined, from artefacts and buildings, through to maps, aerial photographs, directories, census returns and newspapers. Suggestions and examples are given of activities which pupils in both primary and secondary schools can undertake in analyzing and learning from local sources, including the use of IT. An index of activities is also provided. The revisions made for this edition bring the book in line with the 1995 changes to the History National Curriculum.
