This book recounts the sights encountered by the author while a seaman with the East India Company. He started his voyage in 1812 and ended in about 1814-15. As with all travelogues it too describes the customs, monuments, local life, commercial prospects, festivals, etc - of the places visited. This book is a reprint of the 1931 edition and is selected and edited along with a biographical sketch of the author by H.G. Rawlinson.
