内容説明
Quantity and Quality in Higher Education explores the changes taking place in higher education, and by discerning some of the basic educational issues within this situation the authors have discovered that many can be summarised in the phrase 'quantity and quality'. They argue that to some extent the issues implied by this phrase have always been intrinsic to higher education, yet believe changing circumstances demand a new look at how higher education operates and can be evaluated.
The focus throughout is on the educational functions of universities and how these may be best preserved and developed in the climate of change. While quite aware of the functions of universities as research organisations and repositories of learning and scholarship, and of the realities of the economic situation, the authors seek practical ways forward based on research and experience rather than on merely nostalgia or expediency. This book offers a new set of perspectives on the problems incurred by the changing circumstances of higher education, and will be of great interest to all those involved in this.
