内容説明

This text introduces the basics of psychoanalytic and behaviourist psychology through an examination of the psychological systems of Freud, Jung, Eysenck, Boss, Adler, Sullivan, Pavlov and Skinner. The book illustrates how proponents of the psychodynamic and behaviouristic schools, rather than conflicting, actually add to and complement one another. The book opens with a discussion of psychological paradigms and moves on to consider Freudian psychodynamics. There follow chapters showing how Jung, Eysenck and Boss differ from Freud in describing environmental effects on personality. The second part of the book shifts to an experimental perspective, showing how the mental structures of clinicians such as Freud and Jung are replaced by the temporal and transactional structures of Pavlov and Skinner. In conclusion, the book argues that announcements of the death of behaviourism and psychoanalysis may well be premature. The book is aimed at students and as a guide to modern psychology and its development.
