Description
This work is an ILO contribution to the implementation of the 1995 Beijing Platform for Action on the 4th World Conference on Women and the Copenhagen Declaration on Social Development. It outlines the significance of women's employment and the main objectives of integrated and comprehensive strategies for action. The book examines ways to improve women's economic position, including "gender-blind" and "gender-neutral" policies, mainstreaming and women-specific activities, anti-discrimination legislation, positive action, targeted interventions and protective measures. It provides advice on how to enhance the quality of the female labour supply, increase investment in education and training, and improve women's access to employment opportunities. This guide intends to assist social partners to provide more and better jobs for women, to promote equality and to fight discrimination and poverty at work.
