Description
This proceedings, composed of two volumes, contains the papers presented at the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Fourteenth Structures Congress held in Chicago, Illinois, USA, April 14-18, 1996. This Congress was held in conjunction with the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat Conference, ""Tall Building Structures: A World View"", and the 5th International Colloquium on Stability of Metal Structures, organized by the Structural Stability Research Council. The papers contained in this proceedings correspond to the theme of the Congress, ""Building an International Community of Structural Engineers."" They describe structural engineering topics, ranging from research to practice regarding analysis, design, aesthetics, materials, and construction of structural systems. The collection of papers provides civil engineers with a wealth of technical information concerning the international status and progress of structural engineering.
