内容説明

This volume represents an international documentation of contributions to research, seminars and new editions from the Kierkegaard Research Centre in Copenhagen. It is dedicated to "Works of Love" which, until recently, had been neglected in mainstream Kierkegaard research. It brings together a number of articles on this work by leading Kierkegaard experts. Some of the articles contain close readings and analyses of the primary text, while others try to situate it in a more general context by using it as an occasion for comparing Kierkegaard with other thinkers such as Habermas, Adorno and Levinas. "Yearbook" also includes: a series of specialized review articles which provide an overview of the reception of "Works of Love" in the different countries and language groups; other articles on other topics and texts from the work of scholars at the Soren Kierkegaard Research Centre; and articles related to the new critical edition of Kierkegaard's works, which is currently being produced by the Centre.

内容説明

The main theme of this yearbook is Kierkegaard's "A Literary Review" (1846). This text has often been ignored by much of Kierkegaard research since it purports merely to be a book review of Thomasine Gyllembourg's novel, "Two Ages", but yet in the context of discussing the novel, Kierkegaard comes to treat a number of issues of social criticism as well as social-political philosophy. Thus, this work offers a source for our understanding of Kierkegaard's little recognized views on these subjects. In this way "A Literary Review" is examined from various points of view and with the use of various methodologies.

内容説明

This volume of the yearbook is dedicated specifically to the edifying discourses from 1843-44 and to "Three Discourses on Imagined Occasions", from 1845. It features articles on various aspects of these discourses, which are explored from literary, philosophical and theological perspectives. A series of articles has also been included on the history of reception of these edifying discourses in the various countries and language groups.

内容説明

In one of the few passages in Sein und Zeit where Heidegger mentions Kierkegaard explicitly, he suggests that one can learn more philosophically from Kierkegaard's edifying discourses than from the pseudonymous works, and then adds - not including The Concept of Anxiety (1844). It is therefore fully appropriate that the Yearbook, after dealing with the edifying discourses in the previous volume, now proceeds to deal with Kierkegaard's The Concept of Anxiety. Kierkegaard's The Concept of Anxiety, while important for the reception of Kierkegaard internationally, has remained an extremely difficult text to understand on its own terms. The articles approach this text with a variety of different interests and methodologies. The Concept of Anxiety is one of the five texts that appear in volume 4 of the new scholarly edition of collected works in Danish language, SOoren Kierkegaards Skrifter, which is published by Gad Publishers in Copenhagen. Accordingly, the articles try to reflect the results of the philological research and the research involved in the commentaries which appear in SOoren Kierkegaards Skrifter K4. The Yearbook also includes articles on the history of reception of The Concept of Anxiety in the individual countries and language groups, as well as papers on philological research connected with SOoren Kierkegaards Skrifter. Specifically these articles concern the four journals published in the recent volume SOoren Kierkegaards Skrifter 17. Among other things, they examine the problems of dating the individual journals, the condition of the preserved manuscripts and the fate of those that do not survive.

内容説明

This volume contains the papers given at the Soren Kierkegaard Research Centre's Research Seminar in Copenhagen from August 15-18th 2001. the theme of the seminar was the two books which Kierkegaard published in 1843, namely "Repetition" and "Fear and Trembling". While "Fear and Trembling" has always been a familiar work among students and scholars, recently much attention has also been given to "Repetition" primarily by interpretors influenced by deconstruction. The articles in this volume treat these two works from several different perspectives and expertises.

内容説明

The Yearbook 2004 has as its theme Kierkegaard's Philosophical Fragments, which has recently appeared in the new Danish scholarly edition, Soren Kierkegaards Skrifter vol. 4. This text has long been regarded as one of the most important of Kierkegaard's pseudonymous and philosophical works. The main section of the Yearbook features papers on this work from leading international Kierkegaard experts, representing several different fields of scholarship, such as philosophy, theology, literature, and philology. Section 2 is dedicated to articles on the rich and varied history of reception of the Philosophical Fragments in the different research traditions' language areas. Various lectures and papers that were given at the Soren Kierkegaard Research Centre over the course of 2003 are published in the third section. Section 4 features two translations of primary texts from Kierkegaard's time: The first is an English translation of J.P. Mynster's essay "Rationalism, Supernaturalism" and the second, Hans Lassen Martensen's response to it. Both works are relevant for the issue of Hegelian mediation that exercises Johannes Climacus in Philosophical Fragments.

In light of Hans Christian Andersen's 200th birthday and the 150th anniversary of Kierkegaard's death, the main section of "Yearbook 2006" is devoted to the relationship between Andersen and Kierkegaard. Among the articles is an essay by a leading practitioner of Conceptual Art, Joseph Kosuth. The Yearbook also contains three previously unknown letters. The first, from 1857, is from Soren Kierkegaard's brother-in-law to his older brother, Peter Christian. The second letter, from 1866, is from Kierkegaard's former fiancee, Regine Schlegel, nee Olsen, to his nephew Henrik Lund. The third letter, written the day after Kierkegaard's funeral in 1855, is from theologian and politician Peter Christian Zahle. It contains new information about Kierkegaard's period of illness at Frederik's Hospital, his funeral at the Church of Our Lady, and his burial at Assistens Cemetery.

Kierkegaard Studies. Yearbook 2008 is devoted entirely to Kierkegaard's early two-part work Either/Or (1843) that made the young Danish theologian, philosopher and man of letter famous virtually overnight, and the reception and effects of which have been linked with his name world-wide up to the present day. Either/Or rightly appears as an overwhelming study heralding the present age of the 20th/21st centuries. Section 1 contains the collected papers from the international research seminar of the Kierkegaard Research Centre held in Copenhagen in August 2007. Section 2 contains studies on the history of the work's reception, in this case coveringa wide field (from Scandinavia to China), which once again bear impressive testimony to the stature and effect of Kierkegaard's early work: Either/Or -Literature in its global effect.
