Description and Table of Contents

Description

To supplement the ethnographic literature on the Quechan tribe of the lower Colorado River, A. M. Halpern recorded three accounts of the Quechan mourning ceremony from native speakers in the Yuma language. These texts are presented in a prosodic line format with matching English translations to capture aspects of the oral performances and discourse structure. The volume also inclues introductory material and annotations that are of value to a wide audience.
