内容説明
For most of the 20th century, discusssion of McTaggart has revolved around his denial of the reality of time. This text offers a "popular" exposition of his philosophy that provides an accessible route into the central elements of his fuller metaphysical system without becoming embroiled with this issue. First published in 1906, this, the second edition appeared in 1930 and includes an introduction by C.D. Broad. Broad gives analysis of the whole range of McTaggart's work, biographical information and personal comment. To the philosophy of the Absolute, Broad places Hegel as its "inspired and too often incoherent prophet", Bradley as its "chivalrous knight" and McTaggart as its "extremely astute family lawyer". This edition now includes the emendatons of McTaggart made in his own personal copy and has been complemented with a new foreword and bibliography of McTaggart's works by Gerald Rochelle.
