内容説明

In 1992 Oxfam launched the Women's Linking Project, an innovative three-year project designed to bring women together worldwide to share their experiences of working for change. The culmination of the project was an international conference for staff of Oxfam and other development agencies, with representatives of partner organizations and Southern women's organizations. This book reflects on this process and the main issues which emerged during it. Five keynote papers exploring the internal context in which Oxfam UK/Ireland works are included in the book. These address: gender, reproductive rights and health; women's socio-political rights violence against women; gender, poverty and structural adjustment; gender, environment and sustainable development. Further chapters examine the implications of an organizational commitment to gender-fair development, looking at working with partners and organizational culture. The book contains arguments in favour of a commitment to a gender perspective in every aspect of development work, if the aim of women's empowerment is to be achieved. The voices of Southern women are given throughout, expressing their concerns and their views on development.
