内容説明

Honouring Samuel Jones Loyd (1796-1883), first Baron Overstone, this imprint is devoted to the history of economics. An authority of finance, Lord Overstone had a powerful influence over cabinets and chancellors of the exchequer, and the running and laws of the Bank of England. One of the richest men in England, he wrote many influential tracts on currency and banking subjects. His library included over 10,000 related volumes from his friend, J.R. McCulloch. This eight-volume set makes available many major and long out-of-print works by Alfred Marshall, including Guillebaud's variorum edition of "Principles of Economics", Marshall's most famous work. This edition traces all the textual changes through the work's successive editions. Also included is a reprinting of "Official Papers", Marshall's contributions to various Royal Commissions. Besides his published books, Marshall's major contribution to economic literature was in the form of journal articles, public lectures, book reviews, and prefaces and chapters to books written by others. This body of work has here been specially collected and typeset in two volumes with an index.
